»Not having your immigration status is like a basket with many holes. You ask yourself, how am I going to block all these holes! It's like when you're trying to block one hole, another hole is waiting for you. You just can't block them all, no matter how hard you try, the water is still going through.« (Florence). »These seeds, they don’t decide their fate, they depend on the wind, wherever the wind blows them, which direction. They can burn, they can die, or they can grow, they don’t know what’s going to happen. They don’t make their fate, it’s not in their hands. There are circumstances that make [migrants] like these seeds, just flown and pushed by the wind, going wherever...« (Fahmida). Image © Rebekka Hölzle

»My box is quite simple, but it has some deep messages inside. We came here belonging to different cultures, but the ladies gave me a message which is going to help me make decisions in my future. This doll symbolises those ›helping hands‹, and this is us, the circle of these beautiful women and how we help each other in different ways. Even-though, sometimes we feel like we are stuck in a vessel, we are never. When we look around, there are amazing people there to help us. It’s just that we have to come out of our own shell first to seek help, so never lose hope, always try to find some nice people, who are there for you.« (Faiza). Image © Rebekka Hölzle
